Basic Tips on Animal Reiki

- Whenever possible, work on the Animal in their home/a comfortable space for them.
- Make sure the Animal is free to move around during the treatment, and has access to water.
- Take a moment to “meet” the Animal. Introduce yourself, and familiarize yourself with the Animal.
- Let the owner know that they may be in the space while you are treating the Animal, but silence is preferred.
- Find a nice comfortable spot in the space.
- Settle and center yourself.
- Place your palms in your lap/on your knees facing outward or upward (into the space).
- In your mind, OFFER the Reiki to the Animal you wish to treat.
- Explain (again, in your mind) that the Animal may take as much or as little of the Reiki as they want.
- Explain that they (the Animal) is in complete control and may accept or reject the OFFERED energy.
- Reassure the Animal that Reiki can cause no harm.
- Set the INTENT to OFFER the Reiki to this ANIMAL.
- Focus on your palms and any sensations within them: i.e. Can you feel any tingling or heat that usually indicates that the Reiki has been accepted?
- If the Reiki is flowing and the treatment has been accepted, aim for a 30minute treatment.
- Most Animals are super sensitive to Reiki/Energy in general, so 30 minutes is usually plenty.
- During the treatment: “go with the flow”, watch the Animal, and if they approach you and want parts of your hands on them, go with it. They may just come and sniff your hands, or they may be happy to lie at a distance and receive the Reiki.
- If the Animal becomes distressed and wishes to leave the space: allow this to happen. Organize another time to come and offer some Reiki. (NOTE: I haven’t heard of this happening at all, but it’s best to be prepared.)
