Shamanic Animal Healing Program of Study ::
Animal Spirit Healing & Education® Network is offering a four level program in Shamanic Healing for Animals which will guide you to open and deeply connect with your spirit allies, and work with them to heal animals and help their people. All shamanic program courses are taught by Carla Meeske, a pioneer in bringing shamanism to animal healing, and dynamic teacher with a dedicated following of amateur and professional animal practitioners.
Each course has a specific syllabus, but Carla will be augmenting the teachings as the Spirits guide her to tailor the course to each group’s needs.
Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 are excellent for anyone interested in working with their own animals or animal companions of friends and family - or to establish a solid foundation for completing the Program of Study.
Level 4 becomes increasingly focused on enhancing skill level, knowledge, and techniques to prepare students to work professionally with clients.
As part of the Animal Spirit Cafe, ASN offers monthly Mastery Hour teleconferences with a Shamanic Healing topic focus. This gathering can support you in staying active in practicing your shamanic healing skills while waiting to take the next level teleclass or in-person class. There are no course prerequisites for Level 1, however two elective courses are available that can provide helpful insight and preparation:

Certificate of Completion
What is a Certificate of Completion in Shamanic Animal Healing? It is a document that states that you have successfully completed 3 challenging classes that have introduced you to the core concepts of Shamanic Healing for Animals, and that you have applied that learning to at least four animal clients, under the supervision of Carla Meeske. It does not certify you to be a shamanic practitioner. Only the spirits can do that, and they renew (or renege) that agreement every time you ask them to help. It takes many years of experience to be consistent in shamanic work, and even then the spirits can withdraw their connection to you at any time. It is important for us to understand this, and to not put undue importance on a human document that the spirits do not recognize. It is your intention and your dedication that they honor. And it is they, and only they, who empower you to do this work. That being said....
To earn a Certificate of Completion in Shamanic Healing for Animals, students must fulfill all program requirements.
Requirements: Students must successfully complete the 4 levels of Shamanic Healing for Animals Courses, 3 Core Courses, and 8 Case Studies. (only 4 shamanic animal healing case studies are required if you are concurrently completing case studies in a second ASN program of study; more details below)
The 4 Levels of Shamanic Healing for Animals Specialty Courses must be taken in sequence, and Ethics (BM101) must be completed prior to Level 3 and case studies.
The remainder of the Core Courses may be taken at any time during the program, in no particular order, and must be completed before Certificates of Completion are issued.

The Core classes are offered as either scheduled teleclasses or on demand classes (via digital audio recordings and downloadable handouts). The Core Courses are included in the programs of study to help round out your education and bring you to a level of professional competency. The instructors of the core courses are well-established professionals and teachers in their field of expertise.

It is recommended to begin the Core courses following Shamanic Healing for Animals 2. All courses must be completed to obtain an ASN certificate of completion in the Shamanic Healing program.
Course format availability (scheduled teleclass, or on demand) is noted next to the course description below. Each course includes a brief follow-up Fieldwork assignment to obtain program credit for an ASN certificate of completion in the Shamanic Healing program. All courses can be taken by non-program participants for personal interest as well.

Level 1 Shamanic Animal Healing
Level 1 connects you to your power spirit allies and gives you experience with the shamanic journey and non-ordinary reality – the world of spirits. You will learn a simple shamanic method for communication with animals that works well on its own, and interfaces nicely with telepathic communication. In shamanic work your spirit allies augment and clarify the information you receive, taking communication to a deeper level. You will begin to use shamanic techniques to heal underlying physical and emotional problems. You will learn to call your spirit allies into your energetic field, supercharging your work in all modalities, energetic and rational. And most important, a shamanic initiatory experience will deepen your connection to spirit, bring you direct personal healing and shift your world view.
Level 2 Shamanic Animal Healing
Level 2 introduces you to core shamanic healing practices of illness extraction and compassionate power retrieval. These cornerstone practices are the basis of most shamanic healing techniques. To excel in them you will need to have strong footing in non-ordinary reality and be able to enlist the help of a variety of helping spirits. This course will give you experience in creating your sacred space in both realities, and will help you cross between the worlds with confidence. You will also learn to cross other spirits between the worlds as you learn to escort the dead to their families beyond.
Level 3 Shamanic Animal Healing
Level 3 goes farther and deeper, giving you the skills to deal with more difficult problems. Some of these problems require that you have strong initiatory experiences. Ideally you will participate in a special healing ceremony at one of Carla’s live Chicago area workshops. You will learn to call in protection for specific issues, and you will learn to use the advice of the spirits to help guide your client’s choices.
Level 4 Shamanic Animal Healing/Personal & Professional Development Sequence
Level 4 is a case studies course sequence, where you integrate your experiences and get feedback on your work.
There are 8 total case studies required to earn your certificate of completion in the Shamanic Healing Program. If you are taking case studies as part of another ASN training program, you only need to complete 4 shamanic healing case studies. A review of four case studies is included in SH402, and an additional four in SH403.
You may begin your case studies after Level 2, and wrap them up 6-9 months after completing Level 3.
Here are the steps in the process:
SH401:
Overview Call: 45 minute teleconference call or class recording. Carla covers the requirements for the cases, provides helpful hints on how to best begin to use shamanic work in your animal practice, and you get to ask all your questions. You will learn all about the forms and procedures. (class code SH401)
Procedure Review: Handouts provided, which participants review individually. Your questions about the forms and procedures can be posted to the Email Support Group noted below. (class code SH401)
Share and get Support from others through our Case Study Email Support Group: You will be invited to join a Yahoo Group with the other participants actively doing Shamanic Animal Healing Case Studies. You will be able to share your cases with other students, and get immediate feedback and help through the list, filling in gaps throughout the process. The SH401 tuition provides up to a 12 month subscription to this e-mail group.
SH402 (Case Study Grouping A:: 4 cases):
Cases Themselves: You will write up your 4 cases on the forms provided in SH401.
Feedback and Mentoring with Carla: You are given 45 minutes of one-on-one feedback time over the phone with Carla with your course fee for SH402. You can use this at any point you like in the process. You may use all 45 minutes at once, or you may break it down into several calls. To initiate phone mentoring time, register online through the ASN website for SH402, and then e-mail Carla to set up your appointment. You can get more time beyond the 45 minutes included for each case grouping by setting up private mentoring appointments with Carla directly.
SH403 (Case Study Grouping B:: 4 cases):
If you are completing 8 case studies in the Shamanic Animal Healing program, you will sign up for this SH403/Group B series once you have completed SH402/Group A. This series has all the same features and benefits as Group A. You will complete the work and fill out the forms. You will receive 45 minutes of personal phone feedback with Carla.
What makes shamanic animal communication different from telepathic?
Simply put we use the shamanic journey to enter the altered state that allows the communication to occur, and we work in companionship with our personal spirit guides, power animals and teachers, who facilitate the process and add immense value every step of the way. If you already have training in telepathic communication you will find that this method augments your abilities, as you learn to leverage the wisdom of your spirits to bring back profound information. If you have no training at all, the shamanic method is really so simple that people find it easy to learn - even when they think they "can't do it".
Each shamanic animal healing course will include activities, teachings, and discussions in these areas:
- Core shamanic principles and techniques and their applications to animal clients
- Interfacing shamanism with other modalities
- Personal initiations for the practitioner
- Working with the Allies for direct spiritual guidance, healing and growth
- Personal safeguards and ethics
Additional Guidelines
Required Core courses are included as part of the full study program to ensure sufficient coverage of ethics, legal, and business aspects for students receiving a program certificate of completion. These are crossover requirements with other training programs offered through Animal Spirit Network, so the core requirement classes can fulfill credit in all programs simultaneously if a student is taking more than one study track over time.
Required courses for completion of the Shamanic Healing program through Level 4 cover concepts and techniques which are closely related to the skills of being a well-rounded Shamanic Healing practitioner.
Program credit for certain Core courses may be provided if you already have documented training or professional experience in specific classes.

For the in-person classes, please do not bring animal companions to the class locations. Participants are instead requested to bring photographs of their animal companions.
