Animal Communication Program of Study ::
Level 1 and Level 2 are designed to allow students to simply explore and enjoy learning how to connect with animals. There is no prerequisite for Level 1 aside from reading a basic book on animal communication. Levels 1 and 2 are excellent for anyone interested in working with their own animals or animal companions of friends and family -- or to establish a solid foundation for continuing on with the Program of Study.
Levels 3, 4 and 5 become increasingly focused on enhancing skill level, knowledge, and techniques to prepare students to work professionally with clients.
Level 6 and 7 are available for those who desire to teach others the Level 1 and Level 2 in-person courses.
As part of the Animal Spirit Cafe, ASN offers monthly Mastery Hour teleconferences with an Animal Communication topic focus. This gathering can support you in staying active in practicing your animal communication skills while waiting to take the next level teleclass or in-person class. See Animal Spirit Cafe for more information. A link to upcoming Mastery Hour teleconferences can be seen by clicking here. Numerous archived gatherings are also available.
There are no course prerequisites for Level 1, however an elective course is available that can provide helpful insight and preparation:
- AC101: Communicate with Animals ~ An Introduction :: (FREE 1-part teleclass, available on-demand or as a scheduled teleclass)
Certificate of Completion
To earn a Certificate of Completion in Animal Communication, students must fulfill all program requirements.
Requirements: Students must successfully complete the 5 levels of Animal Communication Courses, 16 Core Courses, and 12 Case Studies.
The 5 Levels of Animal Communication Specialty Courses must be taken in sequence, and the following five Core Courses must be completed before moving on to specific levels, as noted.
Ethics (BM 101) is needed following Level 2, and prior to proceeding with case studies. Case Study Procedures (AC301) and Case Studies A(AC302), and the Animals as Healers series (AC110 and AC212), are required to attend Animal Communication Level 4.
The remainder of the Core Courses may be taken at any time during the program, in no particular order, and must be completed before Certificates of Completion are issued.

Level 1 Animal Communication
Open yourself to the wonderful and insightful world of communicating with animals. Broaden your awareness, and learn foundation skills. Send and receive messages, and become aware of potential barriers and how to move past them. Enjoy exercises to practice and deepen the experience of this heart-felt connection.
For students taking ASN Level 1 in person, or a level 1 from instructors outside of ASN, or if there has been more than a 90 day time span since the Level 1 class, course AC150 is designed to be The Bridge to prepare you for Level 2 through Animal Spirit Network. This includes additional fieldwork assignments, group discussion, and instructor review.
Level 2 Animal Communication
Synchronize more completely with our animal teachers, and learn techniques to further assist you in understanding animal's experiences. Continue to let go of blocks to your communications, and move past old patterns that may be hindering your complete connection. Enrich yourself as you continue exploring and advancing your human-animal-nature-earth connection.
Level 3 Animal Communication/Personal & Professional Development Sequence
Level 3 is a case studies course, where you integrate your skills and get feedback on your communication experiences. There are 4 case studies needed before participating in the Level 4 class. A case study e-mail group is included as part of the case study courses. This facilitates ongoing moderator/instructor support. Students are requested to complete BM101, AC301, AC302, AC110, and AC212 prior to attending Level 4.
Please Note: The AC302 Case Study Grouping - (first four cases) - must be submitted, and the mentoring session completed, no later than 4-6 weeks in advance of the AC402 Level 4 Course start date that you wish to attend.
Level 3 is also a key time frame to move forward strongly to complete the Core Courses. Participants may attend Level 4, and begin Level 5, based on the stated prerequisites for those classes. For the full Animal Communication program of study, Level 3 will be considered fully complete for a participant when the Core Courses are concluded.
Here are the steps in the case study process:
AC301:
Overview Call: 45 minute teleconference call or class recording. The instructor covers the requirements for the cases, provides helpful hints, and you get to ask all your questions. You will learn all about the forms and procedures. (class code AC301)
Share and get Support from others through our Case Study Email Support Group: You will be invited to join a Yahoo Group with the other participants actively doing Animal Communication Case Studies. You will be able to share your cases with other students, and get immediate feedback and help through the list, filling in gaps throughout the process. The AC301 tuition provides up to a 12 month subscription to this e-mail group.
Independent Listening: To support continued learning and case study experience, participants are to obtain a copy of Penelope Smith's "Animal Communication Mastery Series" CD set for personal use. This is a pre-requisite to attend Level 4. This product is available through the ASN online store, as well other locations. Click HERE for more information on this learning tool.
AC302 (Case Study Grouping A:: 4 cases):
Cases Themselves: You will write up your 4 cases on the forms provided in AC301.
Feedback and Mentoring: You are given 45 minutes of one-on-one feedback time over the phone with a case mentor with your course fee for AC302. You can use this at any point you like in the process. You may use all 45 minutes at once, or you may break it down into several calls. To initiate phone mentoring time, register online through the ASN website for AC302, and then e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to set up your appointment. You can get more time beyond the 45 minutes included for each case grouping by setting up private mentoring appointments with a mentor directly.
Level 4 Animal Communication/Interspecies Counselor Course
Offered in-person only (Chicago and New York areas at this time). For students who wish to continue expanding their abilities and awareness, further develop and fine tune their skills, and explore becoming an interspecies consultant for animals and their people.
Level 5 Animal Communication/Personal & Professional Development Sequence
Level 5 is also a case studies course series where you integrate your experiences and get feedback on your work. There are 12 total case studies required to earn your certificate of completion in the Animal Communication Program. 4 case studies are completed in Level 3, and an additional 8 case studies are completed in Level 5. You may wrap up up case studies 6-9 months after completing Level 4. Any remaining Core Courses are to be completed during this time.
Additional steps in the case study process:
AC501 (Case Study Grouping B:: 4 cases):
To continue the Animal Communication program of study, you will sign up for this AC501/Group B series once you have completed AC302/Group A, plus the Level 4 in-person course. This series has all the same features and benefits as AC302/Group A. You will complete the work and fill out the forms. You will receive 45 minutes of personal phone feedback directly with a mentor.
AC502 (Case Study Grouping C:: 4 cases):
To complete the Animal Communication program of study, you will sign up for this AC502/Group C series once you have completed AC501/Group B. This series has all the same features and benefits as both AC302/Group A, and AC501/Group B. You will complete the work and fill out the forms. You will receive 45 minutes of personal phone feedback directly with a mentor.
Level 6 Animal Communication/Teaching the Level 1 In-Person Basic Course
Advance your skills and bring the world of animal communication to others through teaching. Apprentice to teach the Level 1 In-Person Course (The Basic Course: How To Communicate With Animals). Level 5 must be near completion, and professional experience reviewed, prior to this apprenticeship opportunity.
Level 7 Animal Communication/Teaching the Level 2 In-Person Advanced Course
Continue to broaden your skills and assist others to deepen their animal communication experiences and connections. Apprentice to teach the Level 2 In-Person Course (The Deepening). Prerequisite: Completion of Level 6, review of professional experience, and material review.
Additional Guidelines
Students are encouraged to focus on intuitive development and building confidence early in the program during Levels 1 and 2. Upon completion of Level 2, program students are encouraged to focus on the required Core courses while beginning case studies, in preparation for Level 4.
Required Core courses are included as part of the full study program to ensure sufficient coverage of ethics, legal, and business aspects for students in the program. These are crossover requirements with other training programs offered through Animal Spirit Network, so the core requirement classes will fulfill credit in all programs simultaneously if a student is taking more than one study track over time.
Required courses for completion of the Animal Communication program through Level 5 cover concepts and techniques which are closely related to the skills of being a well-rounded Animal Communication practitioner.
Program credit for certain Core courses may be provided if you already have documented training or professional experience in specific classes.

For the in-person classes, please do not bring animal companions to the class locations. Participants are instead requested to bring photographs of their animal companions.
