September News / Back to School!

We are excited to be entering the "back to school" time of year with the start-up of various Level 1 training series, and the launch of many new class topics in the months ahead!  We are hopeful that you have enjoyed your summer, which turned out to be a busier summer for ASN than normal as new class topics were added to August. 

We are thrilled to continue celebrating our 4th year, and share warm virtual "embraces" with new visitors, course participants, plus new guest presenters and faculty!  

 

3x3_ASN_Loss_0510_webAt the beginning of this summer, we announced the addition of a new Program of Study: Animal Loss & Grief Support, guided by ASN faculty member Teresa Wagner. This is a three level program which will guide participants to be a compassionate presence and trained counsel for end-of-life care, loss, and grief.

This new program includes an upcoming teleclass series with Teresa beginning September 13th:  Animals' Perspectives.  The list of other classes in the program and category can be found on the program of study web page, and on the Animal Loss & Grief Support course catalog page. As this program continues to evolve over time, additional course options in various supportive modalities will be welcomed. We are hopeful that these courses can provide further assistance to those aiding their animal companions with end-of-life care, or healing through loss and grief. We are also hopeful to expand awareness and learning for those practitioners and professionals supporting others during this sacred time, whether as a private practitioner, or in a clinic setting.

 

GS101_freeClass_280cAs part of this program development and sharing, an openly available offering (free) is now continuously available: Finding the Grace in Grief. This one hour teleclass was held in mid-May, and can be accessed now at any time. It will be held again live on October 5th.

Additional openly and continuously available FREE teleclass offerings include Introduction to Animal Communication, Introduction to Shamanic Animal Healing, and Introduction to Reiki .

 

acPracticeCircle-125aWe are pleased at the strong participation in the monthly Animal Communication Practice Circle within Animal Spirit Cafe.  This practice circle complements the variety of live topics, guest presenters, and archived recordings available to members as our Animal Wisdom Mastery Hour series.  

Teleclasses coming up in the next few months include Levels 1 and 2 for Animal Communication, Animal Reiki, and Shamanic Healing; Understanding & Preparing for Euthanasia (new teleclass with Windi Wojdak), Yoga for Animal Intuitives (new teleclass series with Nancy Windheart), Animal Astrology, Grief Support, Wisdom of the Whales, Energetic Scanning, Adapting Reiki and Other Energetic Techniques, and others.  Various in-person courses are being held in Illinois, New Jersey, and Nevada.    

In March 2010 we hosted our first Foundation for Shamanic Studies in-person courses with midwest instructor Timothy Cope!  FSS courses for 2010 & 2011, including The Basic Workshop/The Way of the Shaman®, Shamanic Dreamwork™, and more are posted in Special Events.  Carla Meeske, our Shamanic Animal Healing teleclass instructor, also returns to Chicagoland in September for a special in-person retreat, Shamanic Hands-On Healing Techniques. Hawaiian Shamanic instructor Larry Kessler returns in early October with both Creative Family and System Constellations, and The Secrets of the Shadow World.  

Scheduled ASN courses can be reviewied on the website calendar. Classes are continuously being added to both the Animal Spirit Cafe schedule, and the main ASN course calendar.  So you can easily locate a variety of dynamic learning and sharing opportunities that will support your growth personally and/or professionally as you explore holistic care for companion animals and their families, including yourself!

Animal Communication

Begin or continue on your Animal Communication path by taking Communicate with Animals ~ An Introduction as an On Demand or LIVE teleclass with Kristin Thompson or Carol Schultz, both Animal Communicators and Interspecies Life Awareness Coaches. This is a FREE offering, and includes a $20 gift for you to use towards your Animal Communication Level 1 In-Person ~OR~ Level 1 Teleclass registration.  A LIVE scheduled introductory teleclasses are currently scheduled (Course code AC101):

Join our FREE intro class

You can discover and explore the key aspects of animal communication, and experience a heart-centered connection with your animal companion.

Then you can continue on or start with Level 1 Animal Communication (no prerequisites except recommended reading). Also facilitated by Kristin Thompson. Our next Level 1 teleclasses will be starting in September (Course code AC102):

  • A Tuesday evening class beginning September 28th
  • Additional start date in mid-November.

For those not attending the AC Practice Circle live at these times, the animal teacher feedback is always posted online in the Animal Spirit Cafe Forum following the gathering. Shamanic Healing

As we proceed through 2010, we have continued to evolve our offering of shamanic related courses with Carla Meeske, and other shamanic instructors, to support those starting or continuing on their paths of Shamanic connection and journey work!

Introduction to Shamanic Journeying in the 3 Worlds

Suggested for those interested in the Level 1 Shamanic Animal Healing teleclass (Course code SH102, 6-part Teleclass, beginning Thursday, September 16, 2010, 7:30-9:00pm CT), but with limited experience in telepathic animal communication and shamanic journeying.

This Introductory option, course code SH105, 3-part Teleclass, is continuously available in a VIDEO On Demand format.

Also available, for another aspect of shamanic awareness, is Introduction to Hawaiian Shamanism with Larry Kessler. Hawaiian Shamanism differs from other shamanic traditions. This class provides an overview of the Hawaiian system, including its simplicity and ease of use. (Course code SH114, 1-part Teleclass continuously available On Demand as a downloadable course). Animal Reiki

As we continue with our 2nd year of Animal Reiki telecourse offerings, we have these available as alternatives to the successful in-person Animal Reiki classes options. (We have also added a 3-part "Adapting Reiki" teleclass series for those with existing Reiki training.)

These Animal Reiki telecourses have fulfilled our goal to make the Animal Reiki training and attunements available to those interested, but simply not able to travel to our in-person Animal Reiki courses due to human and animal family responsibilities, or the reality of increasing travel costs.

For those who can take an in-person Animal Reiki 1/2/3 courses, the in-person and teleclass materials are now interchangable, so either format could be taken at each consecutive level up through Level 3.

Our newest distance learning program of study is guided by Teresa Wagner, and other established professionals.

As part of the opening of this new program, we are now offering an openly available teleclass with Teresa, Finding the Grace in Grief.  This is next scheduled as a LIVE teleclass for (Course code< a href="/classes/animal-loss/gs101">GS101):

Upcoming teleclasses within this program of study include:

  • The Animals' Perspective and Stories about Death, The Other Side and Coming Back
    The objective of this teleclass series is to share stories from the animals to enhance our understanding about the diversity of what is possible in death, the other side, and coming back, from the perspective of the animals. You will hear stories offered as information to help you clarify your own beliefs. (Course code GS102, 2-part Teleclass, which begins on Monday, September 13, 7:30-9:30pm CT.
  • Understanding and Preparing for Euthanasia with new ASN instructor Windi Wodjak
    As animal caretakers we will almost certainly be faced at some point with decisions regarding the care of an ailing companion. Whether due to aging, chronic illness, acute injury, or tragic cases of severe behavior problems, most of us will, at some point, be presented with euthanasia as an option in the care of our companion animals. This course will focus on the physical process of death as it related to euthanasia in companion animals. (Course code GS110, 2-part Teleclass, which begins on Monday, October 11, 7:30-9:30pm CT.

Special Events Highlights

Upcoming special events through October 2010 include:

  • Shamanic Hands-On Healing Techniques - a LIVE workshop with Carla Meeske. Learn to bring spirit through your bones to deliver powerful hands on healing. You will learn stand alone shamanic techniques, and you will learn how to use your shamanic skills to enhance other energetic healing modalities. Prerequisite: This workshop is appropriate for anyone who has interest in shamanic work. If you do not yet have experience with shamanic journeying, we recommend that you learn simple journeying into the middle, upper and lower worlds before coming. ASN offers an easy way to do this with the Intro to Shamanic Journeying in the 3 Worlds video course (see SH105 for more information). This is a 2-day in-person event in the Chicagoland, IL area on September 18 & 19. (Course Code SE922, beginning Saturday, September 18, at 9:30am CT.
  • Creative Family and System Constellations - a LIVE workshop with Larry Kessler. Family constellations reveal the past wrongs, suffering, and entanglements in our families and their effects on our lives. The constellations resolve these issues and allow the soul to move towards peace and understanding. Based on the discoveries of Bert Hellinger, this is a therapeutic technique that is acknowledged worldwide and growing in popularity in the United States. It is astonishing, powerful, and beautiful, loving work. This is a 1-evening in-person event in the Chicagoland, IL area on October 1. (Course Code HF110, on Friday, October 1, at 7:00pm CT.
  • The Secrets of the Shadow World - a LIVE workshop with Larry Kessler. The Hawaiians believed that the Shadow World (aka honua) is a place that intersects the spiritual and physical realms, where spirit enters our soul and becomes the world. But it is also the home of lapu — ghosts of our own creation. In this workshop we will find the Shadow World and learn how to create a new world. We will also find our lapu and transform them into living a life of peace and harmony. Prerequisite: Basic shamanic journeying or visualization skills. This is a 2-day in-person event in the Chicagoland, IL area on October 2 & 3. (Course Code SE918, beginning Saturday, October 2, at 10:00am CT.
  • Learn to Journey: Introduction to Shamanism - a LIVE workshop with Dawn Wrobel. Throughout time, Shamanism has been a way of life teaching us to walk in both worlds, combining earthly traditions and spiritual practices as well as building a community of support. Shamanic Journeying is a way to access information for our selves and our communities for the betterment of the Earth and her people. This supportive one day workshop teaches you the basic skills of Shamanic Journeying. Prerequisite: None. This is a 1 day in-person event in the Chicagoland, IL area on October 17. (Course Code SE951, Sunday, October 17, 2010, from 9:00am - 5:00pm CT).
  • The Way of the Shaman - a LIVE workshop; Foundation for Shamanic Studies Basic Workshop with Timothy Cope. During the Basic experiential workshop, participants are introduced to core shamanism, the universal and near-universal basic methods of the shaman to enter nonordinary reality for problem solving and healing. Completion of this workshop qualifies participants to take more advanced FSS workshops (to be hosted by ASN in 2011 and after). This is a 2-day in-person event in the Chicagoland, IL area on October 30 & 31. There is no prerequisite for this class. (Course Code SE905, beginning Saturday, October 30, at 10:00am CT.
  • Learn to Journey II: Walking Into the Sacred Circle - a LIVE workshop with Dawn Wrobel. During this one day workshop, we will be exploring in depth the seven directions of a sacred circle, the power of ceremony, making a journey mask, journeying to gather information, as well as learning how to work on and journey for others, creating more opportunities to bring Shamanism into our everyday life. Prerequisite: Open to anyone who knows how to journey and is wanting to expand their skills. This is a 1 day in-person event in the Chicagoland, IL area on November 6. (Course Code SE952, Sunday, November 6, 2010, from 9:00am - 5:00pm CT)
  • Creating and Empowering a Personal Healing Circle - a LIVE workshop with Dawn Wrobel. In this one day workshop you will expand on your basic skills of shamanic journeying with a series of guided journeys designed to step you through the process of creating, empowering, and using a personal healing circle. You will connect with your power animals, angels, guides, and teachers to establish a place of healing in non-ordinary reality. You can use this sacred Healing Circle to request healing for yourself, your companion animals, your family, and friends. Prerequisite: A course in Intro to Shamanism or Learn to Journey, and some practice with journeys on your own. This is a 1 day in-person event in the Chicagoland, IL area on November 21. (Course Code SE955, Sunday, November 21, 2010, from 9:00am - 5:30pm CT)
