March News / Ready for Spring!

We are looking forward to Spring weather beginning to unveil this month, and are excited to have many new courses blossoming and launching in the weeks ahead.  As we continue with our 4th year in 2010, we share warm virtual "embraces" with new visitors, course participants, plus new guest presenters and faculty!  

We are pleased to continue moving along strongly with our Animal Spirit Cafe  and the related Animal Wisdom Mastery Hour, both launched during the later part of 2009.  In addition to our new online introduction to shamanic journeying Video Course , we recently added an Introduction to Reiki 1-part teleclass, which is available for FREE.  Other FREE offerings include our Introduction to Animal Communication and Introduction to Shamanic Animal Healing teleclasses. 

Teleclasses coming up in the next few months include Levels 1 and 2 for Animal Communication, Animal Reiki, and Shamanic Healing; plus Wisdom of the Whales, Aromatherapy for Companion Animals, Adapting Reiki and Other Energetic Techniques, Flower Essence applications, Grief Support, and others.  Various in-person courses are being held in Illinois, Arizona, New York, and New Jersey.  

As mentioned, we continue to expand the number of guest speakers in the Animal Spirit Cafe, and in March 2010 we are hosting our first Foundation for Shamanic Studies in-person courses with midwest instructor Timothy Cope!  The first FSS course for 2010, The Basic Workshop/The Way of the Shaman, is posted in Special Events.  Hawaiian Shamanic instructor Larry Kessler returns in April and October, and Celtic Shamanism instructor Tom Cowan returns in August 2010!  Each of these opportunities is also posted in Special Events.

Scheduled ASN courses can be reviewied on the website calendar. Classes are continuously being added to both the Animal Spirit Cafe schedule, and the main ASN course calendar.  So you can easily locate a variety of dynamic learning and sharing opportunities that will support your growth personally and/or professionally as you explore holistic care for companion animals and their families, including yourself!

Animal Communication

Begin or continue on your Animal Communication path by taking Communicate with Animals ~ An Introduction as an On Demand or LIVE teleclass with Kristin Thompson, Animal Communicator and Interspecies Life Awareness Coach. This is now a FREE offering, and includes a $20 gift for you to use towards your Animal Communication Level 1 In-Person ~OR~ Level 1 Teleclass registration.  LIVE scheduled introductory teleclasses are currently scheduled (Course code AC101):

As we enter 2010, we continue to evolve our offering of shamanic related courses with Carla Meeske, and other shamanic instructors, to support those starting or continuing on their paths of Shamanic connection and journey work!

Also available, for another aspect of shamanic awareness, is Introduction to Hawaiian Shamanism with Larry Kessler. Hawaiian Shamanism differs from other shamanic traditions. This class provides an overview of the Hawaiian system, including its simplicity and ease of use. (Course code SH114, 1-part Teleclass continuously available On Demand as a downloadable course). Animal Reiki

During 2009, we successfully completed our first two class sections of Level 1 and Level 2 Animal Reiki teleclass series, and received positive kudos from our initial participants! We continue to have these available as alternatives to the successful in-person Animal Reiki classes options.

Level 3 Animal Reiki will also be offered in teleclass format beginning June 2010.

These Animal Reiki telecourses have fulfilled our goal to make the Animal Reiki training and attunements available to those interested, but simply not able to travel to our in-person Animal Reiki courses due to human and animal family responsibilities, or the reality of increasing travel costs.

For those who can take an in-person Animal Reiki 1/2/3 courses, the in-person and teleclass materials are now interchangable, so either format could be taken at each consecutive level up through Level 3.

Looking ahead to Animal Reiki teleclasses coming up this Spring Term:

• We have recently added An Introduction to the Intuitive and Spiritual World of Healing Thru Reiki as a LIVE teleclass with Linda Epstein, Animal Intuitive and Reiki Master Teacher. This is a FREE offering, and includes a $20 gift for you to use towards your Animal Reiki Level 1 In-Person ~OR~ Level 1 Teleclass registration. • Level 1 Aromatherapy for Companion Animals:Preventative Care/Good Health with Tresa Laferty. This three part series will focus on strengthening an animals constitution using botanical methods. Many essential oils have been proven to support body systems, and when used correctly, they are a great asset to health. . • Level 2 Aromatherapy for Companion Animals:Using Essential Oils for Health Challenges with Tresa Laferty. This three part series will focus on which essential oils are "must haves" for first aid kits, as well as delve into what is supportive for specific health situations. • Animal Spirit Cafe Mastery Hour: Energetic Healing: with guest presenter Lynn McKenzie. The chakra system holds the key to so many imbalances in our animal companions, whether they are of a physical, emotional or spiritual nature. By unlocking these imbalances, we not only enable them to live in greater comfort and joy, but we can unravel their untold stories, sometimes even more effectively than through animal communication. • Wisdom of the Whales with Teresa Wagner. Over the years, Teresa Wagner has had a deep connection with the whales as ancestral family and spiritual guides. This class is an opportunity to share and expound upon messages of wisdom from the whales that have helped many on our life journeys, and also help you to connect personally with the whales. The information will be augmented with an online presentation of over one hundred stunning photographs of humpback whales. • Animal Spirit Cafe Mastery Hour: Holistic Family Wellness: Making the World a Better Place for Your Animalwith guest presenter Terrence Black. Our lives have become so complicated. Gone are the simple days when you and your best friend ran out the door and played outside without a care in the world! Today we find ourselves reading food labels to see what ingredients are in your animal companion's food. You check to see where products, such as food dishes are manufactured; you worry about the possibility of lead in their toys, or the dangers of excessive vaccinations. • Animal Spirit Cafe Mastery Hour: Species Behavior: 365 Days (Plus One) of Cats: Stories of Ordinary and Extraordinary Felines with guest presenter Peg Silloway. Cat lovers recognize the special bond and communication that develop between cats and their people. In the course of creating her book, The Cat Lover's Book of Days, author Peg Silloway heard from hundreds of people about the unique ways their cats communicated with them to express a full range of emotions. In this session you will hear about the naming of cats (including cats who chose their own names), the influence of cats on artists and writers, cats who shared the lives of famous – and not so famous - people throughout history, and more. Special Events Highlights

Upcoming special events through September 2010 include:

• The Way of the Shaman - a LIVE workshop; Foundation for Shamanic Studies Basic Workshop with Timothy Cope. During the Basic experiential workshop, participants are introduced to core shamanism, the universal and near-universal basic methods of the shaman to enter nonordinary reality for problem solving and healing. Completion of this workshop qualifies participants to take more advanced FSS workshops (to be hosted by ASN in 2011 and after). This is a 2-day in-person event in the Chicagoland, IL area on March 13 & 14. There is no prerequisite for this class. (Course Code SE905, beginning Saturday, March 13, at 10:00am CT.
• The Secret of Aloha and the Movement of the Soul - a LIVE workshop with Larry Kessler. Experience where aloha comes from and to where it flows. Incorporating the family constellation work of Bert Hellinger, we will find the source of love, and use it to heal the ohana (family soul). Love can heal the family soul, and free us from living someone else's fate. This is a 2 day in-person event in the Chicagoland, IL area on April 10 & 11. There is no prerequisite for this class. (Course Code SE914, beginning Saturday, April 10, 2010, at 10:00am CT)  
• Embracing Sovereignty ~ A Workshop in Celtic Shamanism - a LIVE workshop with Tom Cowan. Shamanism is an earth-based spirituality in which spirits of the land—animals, plants, elementals, ancestors, faeries—play dominant roles as teachers, guides, and guardians. In Celtic traditions the Spirit of the Land Herself is named Sovereignty. She is the Goddess of the Land, the foundation for all moral and political authority. In this workshop we explore Sovereignty’s role as the center of the Irish “medicine” or spirit wheel. We will better understand our responsibility to correct the imbalances in our lives, and in the world we live in. Prerequisite: Participants must have shamanic skills to work with power animals and journey into non-ordinary reality. This is a 2 day in-person event in the Chicagoland, IL area on August 7 & 8. (Course Code SE920, beginning Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 9:30am CT)
• Healing our Kindred Connections - a LIVE workshop with Carla Meeske. Explore the overlapping interface of our energetic bonds. Heal others by healing yourself. Explore the principles of co-creation and understand how and why it manifests in ourselves and our close relations. Prerequisite: Participants must have shamanic skills to work with power animals and journey into non-ordinary reality. This is a 2-day in-person event in the Chicagoland, IL area on September 18 & 19. (Course Code SE922, beginning Saturday, September 18, at 9:30am CT.
• Additional Foundation for Shamanic Studies course, and additional Hawaiian Shamanism course, are in October 2010.
