Fieldwork Assignment Set #2 ::
(Specifically for course code GS104 Grief Support Skills with Teresa Wagner)
There is enrollment and tuition associated with this Fieldwork review for GS104 with Teresa. See course code GS104F.
Below is the ASN Fieldwork Assignment Form (#2). For the GS104 course, this format is to be used instead of ASN Fieldwork Assignment form (#1). This fieldwork assignment indicates your comprehension and mastery of the materials in your ASN course. There are two situations that will require you to submit a fieldwork report after taking a course:
- If you are taking a course with ASN that is part of a Program of Study, and you are working toward a Certificate of Completion, you must complete a fieldwork assignment for that course and have it reviewed. You do not need to complete the fieldwork assignment if you are not planning to earn a Certificate of Completion from an ASN Program of Study.
- If you wish to transfer learning units from an ASN class to another institution, you must submit a fieldwork assignment and have it reviewed. That will support your request, by illustrating your effort in the course, and your understanding of the material.

GRIEF SUPPORT SKILLS TELECLASS: Field Work Questions
- After completing and reflecting back on the class, what, if anything, do you feel good about,feel confirmed about, regarding any aspect of having effectively supported grievers in the past?
- What, if anything, did you learn or realize from this class that you didn't know or give much thought to before, and now see as important, and perhaps motivates you want to do some things differently when in the role of supporting those who grieve animals?
- In your own words, how would you describe the concept of "empathy before strategy" in the context of grief support and why it's important?
- Describe any potential pros and cons of the strategies listed below regarding the sharing of our own personal beliefs (spiritual beliefs, religious beliefs, metaphysical beliefs, etc.) about death and the afterlife of animals while supporting someone who is grieving?
- Share my beliefs with clients when they directly ask me what my beliefs are, being careful to label them as my beliefs, then be careful to gently steer the conversation back to the griever's experience rather than focusing on my own story.
- Initiate a description and discussion of my beliefs, and perhaps how much they've helped me and others, because I believe or hope it will help them as it did us.
- Offer or give as gifts resources on grief support (books, CD's, web sites, flower essences, etc.) to those who are grieving the loss of an animal.- What are three or four favorite thoughts/quotes from the class that you feel are good reminders for you as you interact with and support grievers and why?
A typed, organized, and thoughtful response of approximately 3-4 pages is requested. Responses will be forwarded to and reviewed by the course instructor or moderator, and feedback will be provided as needed.
Program credit will be confirmed once your responses are received and reviewed.
This fieldwork will assist with your learning and integration of the material and experience shared by the instructor during the course. We look forward to reviewing your personal insights and the items that are most significant for you, and how you anticipate that this will be helpful for you going forward.
