BM105 - Business Management/Standards & Practices for Animal Care Practitioners ::

This course touches upon a wide variety of business management related topics which have historically been frequently asked questions from students. It is intended to help new practitioners be aware of successful professional practices to create effective boundaries, and to streamline the details of startup and daily work flow as an independent practitioner. Defining expectations up front will help make things easier to manage, and provide a clearer means for conflict resolution. Creating clarity in your work flow and approach will enhance presence and professionalism, and help you to stay grounded and present for client interaction and support.

This course consists of three key sections

1.) An overview of topics that you will do independently using the coursehandout, along with internet links to optional pre-recorded audios (totaling approximately 4 hours). The audios may accompany and supplement the written material. You need to allow sufficient time to review the materials prior to the second course section.

2.) A facilitated question & answer session, which can occur either as a

  • Teleclass – scheduled group conference call, or
  • On demand/On Request – up to a ½ hour private coaching call

You will be requested to submit specific questions that you would like covered during the Q&A session. These questions can be based directly on this material for clarification, or can be additional business-related topics that may currently not be included in the course handout & audios.

3.) Completion and submission of a Fieldwork assignment following the Question & Answer portion to complete course credit for one or multiple ASN study programs

The topics covered in this class and approaches discussed are to assist you as you start and develop your business, and are not intended to be an absolute by any means.
