SB105 - Fundamentals of Avian Behavior ::

The focus of this class will be to introduce participants to basic concepts of Avian behavior. Material will include factors that influence behavior, what motivates behavior, and basic management strategies for Avian behavior problems. Participants will learn how to look at behavior from a birds eye view, an essential starting place for the development of a successful behavior modification plan.

Behvior issues such as screaming, biting, and feather destruction will be the focus of the class. Various approaches to keep your parrot happy, healthy and avoid un-wanted behaviors will be presented. Improving their environment, step-up training, and exercise will also be discussed. Un-like cats and dogs, parrots are not domesticated animals, therefore they need to be shown the respect that you would a wild animal.
