ANIMAL LOSS & GRIEF SUPPORT SKILLS
When a beloved animal crosses over, most people mourn them on the same level as losing a family member.
As an animal care practitioner, it is important to understand that people mourn differently. Their process can be honored and supported with acknowledgement of the legitmacy of their loss. In the Support Skills course you will learn how to listen as the person expresses their grief, understand their grief, and support them with great love, tenderness, and effective skills.
As an animal caretaker who has lost an animal, the facilitated group process in the Legacies of Love course gently and lovingly provides participants with an opportunity to express their grief, understand their grief, and explore pathways to heal.
Our new program of study in this category is guided by Teresa Wagner, a compassionate and admired instructor with an extensive and grounded background in couseling and grief support studies.

GS101: Finding the Grace in Grief :: |

|
Teleclass, or On Demand; open registration/no tuition. When we suffer a great loss, pain is inevitable. Though there is no magic wand to avoid the pain of grief, there is much we can do to support the healing of our pain, including being open to the grace. The state of grace is the other side of pain. As different as these energies may be, they do exist simultaneously. When the heart is broken open, it is not just pain that results from the breaking, but the possibility for growth of the heart as it heals. This introductory talk offers four distinct strategies, each with several practical resources, to help us in finding the grace in grief. No prerequisite. |
