One of the lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina is that disaster planning needs to include plans for companion animals and livestock as well as humans. No one is exempt from the possibility of a natural or man-made disaster. What do you do for yourself and your animals if disaster strikes?
May 8th each year has been designated National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day by FEMA. This year many organizations are sponsoring programs on Saturday, May 12th and ASN is participating by offering a Cafe Hour on disaster preparedness on May 9th.
Join ASN faculty member Dawn Wrobel as she discusses the three disaster scenarios we all need to plan for, resources available to guide you in creating evacuation kits and plans, what you need to research about local support, and what your animals most need from you when disaster strikes.
About Dawn:
As an animal communicator, Dawn has worked with many Katrina dogs as well as with animals who have survived other types of disasters. She has also experienced a disaster herself, caring for three horses, two dogs, one cat, and sixty six hedgehogs by herself for several days without power, heat, or water during a blizzard that isolated her home. She will be spending May 12th helping people in her county prepare emergency starter kits and evacuation plans for their companion animals.
Dawn describes herself as a perpetual student, participating in clinics and apprenticeships on a regular basis to continue her training. She credits her horses with pushing her into natural horsemanship, TTouch and animal communication, her veterinarians with nudging her into Reiki attunements, and her hedgehogs with growing her animal communication practice and assisting with shamanic healing. Dawn is also working on her Ph.D. in Holistic Health.
She is author of the book, "The Happy, Healthy Hedgehog", and has trained veterinarians and veterinary technicians on hedgehog handling and care. Her articles on hedgehogs, chinchillas, guinea pigs, and other small pets have appeared in numerous trade and consumer publications. Through her stature in the exotic pocket pet community, Dawn has developed a practice that includes rabbits, guinea pigs, snakes, poison arrow frogs, bearded dragons and even millipedes, in addition to hedgehogs.

The powerful work of soul recovery involves gathering the pieces of an animal’s spirit and/or pieces of their energy bodies that have fragmented due to trauma and integrating them back into their proper place so that the animal’s mind, body, emotions and soul are once again intact and aligned.
All beings are whole within their divine core. Yet when trauma happens in this world, energy bodies can dissociate and get out of balance. From these imbalances, misbehaviors, physical ailments, and other issues can occur. This is not only true for our animal friends but for humans as well. Soul Recovery allows the animals to be fully present on every level and to better fulfill and actualize their purpose as the wonderful healers and teachers they were created to be and are.
Soul Recovery also assists animals with becoming aligned with their energy bodies and soul as the earth’s energies continue to shift in dramatic ways. We are all experiencing shifts and changes within our energy bodies and DNA, which requires us to be grounded and aligned with who we are. This is also true for our animal friends.

discussing: Balancing the First Two Chakra Energy Centers with Fairy Healing
Chakras are the vital, circling energy centers in our bodies that keep us in balance. Our first and second chakras, located at the base of the spine (the first chakra), and pelvis (second chakra), are all about survival and physical needs, and relationships, creativity and sensuality. When these centers become out of balance, we will have our grounding and stability affected, or our relationship to our bodies and each other.
In fairy healing, we look to the colors of the flowers and other forms of Nature to restore this imbalance. If I grab for this orange rose essence, it will help me connect to my sensual needs that I have forgotten. If I connect to the trees and gnome energy, I can feel more stabile, healing my first chakra. Join me as we enter the land of chakras and fairies!
