Carla is a shamanic practitioner in Glendale, Arizona, who has worked with the
spirits for over 16 years to help people and animals become well and whole.
As a graduate of the 3 year advanced training program offered by Michael
Harner and Foundation of Shamanic Studies (see www.shamanism.org),
she practices core shamanism, using healing techniques that are common
to many cultures and compatible with our modern world. These techniques
include soul
retrival, power animal retrieval, psycho pomp, divination and various
healing activities.
Carla's teachers are spirits who have deep compassion for the pain and suffering
that we incarnate beings undergo. Shamanic knowledge is a gift from
the spirits and the shaman's healing power is really the power of the
compassionate spirits who offer their loving help in response to our requests.
The
focus of Carla's work is with animals as she is an animal person ("part
horse" her mother always said - how right she was!). Cats,
dogs, horses, goats, chickens, birds and ferrets have been recipients
of her spirit allies' gracious healing power. She also has many
human clients and is able to help people along their healing paths.
The
Shamanic journey is an ideal state of mind for interspecies communication.
When Carla works with animal clients she can speak with them, receive
images and impressions from them, and feel their pain in her body.
These are "normal" activities in shamanic work, so the shamanic
method applies wonderfully to animal communication. The helping
spirits enhance the communication, as they have a deeper understanding
of the issues the animal is facing, often deeper than the animals own
awareness, and they can offer healing for the problems we find.
Carla offers workshops, teaching the techniques of Shamanic
Animal Communication and Healing. Carla is author of The Calico
